My Dear Students,
Civil Engineering, since the ancient times, has remained a noble engineering
profession. This branch of engineering and technology has contributed greatly towards
the civilization of the society. Civil engineering is traditional branch of engineering
and is amongst the founding engineering considered to be the backbone of all types of
development. The civil engineering branch deals with the Planning, Designing,
Construction, Maintenance and Operations of Social Infrastructures like Buildings,
Water Supply & Sanitation, Roads, Bridges, Dams & Canals, Water Tanks, Railways,
Airports, Seaports, Tunnels, Nuclear Power Plants and other Communication
Infrastructures. Civil Engineering is the first discipline among the various streams of
engineering and includes the planning, designing, construction, and maintenance of
various infrastructures. The infrastructures include roads, bridges, railways, buildings,
dams, canals, water supply and numerous other facilities which are essential for
civilized life of human beings. Civil engineering is associated with the private and
public sectors, from individual home owners to international enterprises. Civil
engineering utilizes technical information obtained from numerous other sciences. This
engineering is revolutionized by the new technologies including design software, GPS,
GIS systems and other latest technical expertise in varied fields. Technology continues
to make important changes to the application of civil engineering, including the rapid
progress in the use of 3-D and 4-D design tools. There are many specializations in
fields of civil engineering; some of them are Structural Engineering, Water Resources,
Construction, Geotechnical, Transportation, Architectural & Town Planning,
Construction Management and Environmental Engineering. Civil engineering is
retaining important position in the world and thus the career prospects for civil
engineers are very bright. A career in civil engineering is very challenging, and also
promises great financial and personal rewards.
We, at LoGMIEER, Nashik, Maharashtra, have ready infrastructures like Laboratories,
Classrooms, Experienced Faculties and Learning Environment to impart the necessary
training to the Students through class rooms, laboratories and site visits. We assure
this will go long way with the career of our students.
The Department of Civil Engineering at LoGMIEER at Nashik is nurturing high quality
technical manpower required by various industrial establishments, R&D organizations,
Govt. & public establishments and academic institutions. The Department offers B .E.
degree in Civil Engineering. The Department encourages its students to engage in
extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, essential for development, nurturing of
team spirit, and developing organizational skills. The faculty members of the
department are involved in research activities and they continue to encourage the
academics in Students.
